Charlie has built and managed multi-million pound B2B service businesses for Euromoney, Institutional Investor Plc and Pearson PLC. He has founded and secured funding for his own tech start-up and most recently was Commercial Director at the Firsty Group. His experiences with his own consumer facing business and at Firsty have given him a deep appreciation of the do’s and don’ts of selling direct to consumers.
Over the course of his career Charlie has lived and worked in the US and UK. He has travelled extensively across EMEA and elsewhere and is comfortable working with diverse groups, managing varied agendas and communicating effectively with senior management, generalists and specialists.
Now, with over ten years’ experience leading the strategic development of the marketing plans and delivering significant improvements to business performance – my passion and expertise for storytelling has extended across the exciting world of publishing start-ups and indie publishing technology platforms, driving acquisition of new customers, creating integrated brand campaigns, developing commercial partner strategies and generating PR coverage.
Steve Crawford is a disruptive pain in the a***. (According to a major publisher in 2007 when he and the Mobcast team launched the first eBook platform in the UK, preceding Amazon by 18 months).
Steve is a business leader with extensive experience managing Major Corporates to tech start ups.
From 2007, he was a founding member and Chief Operating Officer responsible for building Mobcast from conception to exit by acquisition in 2012.
During this period Steve secured 3 rounds of private equity backed fundraising and achieved rapid organic growth with revenue generating contracts from Orange, T Mobile, Vodafone, Singapore Telecom, Telefonica Spain and WH Smith.
In 2012 he negotiated the sale of the company to Tesco, and then grew the company to over 100 people, launching the Blinkbox books platform in 2014.
Now Steve acts as an independent consultant specialising in helping start up companies not making the mistakes that he made, and advising larger companies on business development strategies in the eBook space.
